Kathryn Spence - Marketing Department
I very much enjoy my job. A major part of my role is organising and attending our stall at varying exhibitions, conferences and shows around the country. I find this a great opportunity to get out and about and meet both members of the public and health care professionals to promote the service that we provide. I think it is important to let people know that there is help available for those that want to maintain their independence in their own homes for longer and the and how the appropriate use of telecare can enable this. We are a rapidly expanding business and I enjoy the new challenges that this brings and feel that I am constantly learning more and more about all aspects of the business.
Chris Hopkinson - Chief Executive.
I joined the business some two years ago as CEO after 20+ extremely enjoyable years in manufacturing industry. At that time I did muse whether Eldercare could match up with what I had previously experienced. In hindsight, that was one muse I could have saved for another issue
I think that the words ‘always there’ that appear with our company name say it all. That, and the effort and dedication of everyone here to deliver the service in all its aspects. Some of our staff have added their reasons for being with Eldercare and if you look through these I think you’ll have a good appreciation for what we’re about and what we put into delivering our service. At the end of the day these are the people at the heart of the service and to a large extent they’re the reason that I, and the other members of the management team, enjoy the work we do so much.
Duncan Bradley - Director of Finance.
I have always loved working in accounts as it allows me to cross over into other parts of the business and influence the future decisions of the business, not just an historic bean counter. This Company, Seniorlink is like a young family, maturing, vibrant and exciting in its approach to business with fresh ideas coming from all areas. This job is not only a career, for me, being part of a charity and helping the elderly stay in their homes, allows me to give something back to society and I feel I am making a difference
Our clients are from all walks of life and all areas of the country, one of the most rewarding aspects of my position is to get out there and meet the clients at the numerous exhibitions and county shows were we advertise our services. To meet them helps me understand the problems they face and gives me a better understanding of how as a company, we can tailor make our services and products to help them better.
Gill Hague - Finance Administrator.
I have worked for Eldercare for almost 10 years. I began in the Control Centre, taking emergency calls. After 4 years I moved into a more administrative role and then in August 2006 I joined the Finance Department.
I like working at SeniorLink Eldercare because, we are quite a varied bunch of people and everyone here is very friendly.
I like working for the company as the nature of our work brings us into contact with the elderly, it is lovely talking to clients and helping them to sort out any problems - everyday is different!!
Hillary Stansfield Eldercare Telephonist Administrator
I find it rewarding working for Senior Link Eldercare. I enjoy talking on the telephone to the elderly clients. I make the appointments for their new units to be fitted and help with their repair problems.
Also if clients are unsure about how to work their unit I explain how they work, and get them to test them to give them confidence in the service.
My colleagues are very friendly and we all help each other. At the moment the clients I am dealing with all come from the Wigan area but I am an experienced control centre operator and until recently I have worked on the Help the Aged Control dealing with the emergency calls.
Vicky Waddon - Marketing Administrator
I’ve worked at SeniorLink Eldercare in various temporary roles since 2002 and have enjoyed watching the company change and grow.
Now I’m in a permanent position it’s nice to have a bit of background. It still feels very much like a friendly family atmosphere.
SeniorLink Eldercare gives me the opportunity to get involved in so many different areas and learn new skills and I’m excited about what the future may bring
Sam Howard - Finance Administrator.
I’ve been working in the finance department since December 2006,
My main duties whilst at work are the direct debits and I love taking calls from our clients, helping them with their problems and getting to know more about them,
I also enjoy working with a lively group of colleagues who are fun and entertaining to work with, there’s never a dull moment at Eldercare!!!
Andrea Taylor- Mobile Warden
I have been back working for Eldercare for 6 months and previously worked for the company back in 2000-2003.
I enjoy working as part of our team and experiencing the flexibility of being a Mobile Warden.
I have done this same job for nearly 8 years in total and plan to continue well into the future.
Another positive side of my role is meeting, helping and getting to know people and thus getting great job satisfaction.
Rita Bhullar - Finance Administrator.
When I started this job a year ago, to me personally it was just another job. One year on I very much enjoy my job at SeniorLink Eldercare.
I have met some very interesting people in the environment I work in, I have had the opportunity to go to some county show, and I have become the face of SeniorLink Eldercare.
I have seen SeniorLink grow in the past year, and I hope I can grow with the company through my career here with SeniorLink Eldercare.
Emma Wardley Eldercare Control Supervisor. I joined Eldercare in December 2005 as a Control Centre Operator. Within 6 months of working for the company I was promoted to a Team Leader. I thoroughly enjoyed my job as a Control Centre Operator/Team Leader as I was able to speak to many different clients and able to assist my colleagues when they needed my help or advice. I enjoy taking the wide variety of calls that we receive on a daily basis and that no 2 calls are exactly the same. I have job satisfaction from helping people or just speaking to clients when they are feeling lonely.
In September 2007 I was promoted to the Eldercare Control Centre Supervisor. I still enjoy taking calls but also have further responsibilities within my new role. I enjoy coming to work on a daily basis as there are always new tasks to deal with and I also receive great support from all of my colleagues.
Janet Wallace Customer service Manager.
I have worked at Eldercare for 17 years in various roles. I started my employment as a mobile warden and Control Centre Operator, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In 1998 I took on the responsibility of Control Centre Manager which was a very challenging and satisfying position. Four years ago I took on the role of Customer Service Manager, which I was very happy to do, this allows me to go out and meet Clients and hold regular review meetings with Corporate Customers. The position is very varied, no two days are the same and brings along various day to day challenges which makes the role more interesting. My main goal is to ensure that a high level of Customer Service is given to all clients, and therefore constantly looking at ways the service could be improved to maintain this.
Jo Wilcock - Technical Support Advisor.
I like working for SeniorLink Eldercare because my colleagues are very friendly and cheerful and are always willing to help me if I have a problem.
As the Technical Support Adviser its my job to help clients who have problems with the system sometimes the clients become very distressed when there is a problem and the satisfaction I get from hearing that everything is sorted out gives a personnel buzz.
At SeniorLink Eldercare things are always changing which gives me the chance to expand my horizons and learn more about different people we help and sometimes it’s just nice and sit and talk to the client who may not speak to another person for the rest of the day.
Jean Swift - Help the Aged Administrator.
I have been working for the company since January 2004 and I very much enjoy my job.
When I first started I was trained as a Control Centre Operator and remained in that position until August 2006 when I was transferred to the Administration Department.
My new position is Help the Aged Administrator, which basically means that I process all the application forms for Help the Aged clients and deal with any queries that arise from there.
I like my job as I get to speak to various people from many walks of life and enjoy helping them in whatever way I can.
Michael Law - Administration Assistant.
I work just sixteen hours at present in the finance and marketing office. I do a lot of things that to others would be very boring and time consuming, freeing up their time to carry on with other tasks.
My job involves things such as going to the bank and post office or going to buy anything that is needed.
I enjoy dealing with people, especially those in the office but also in the places I go such as the post office and the bank.
While my work as yet is quite straightforward and the tasks I carry out are repetitive I don’t mind because the work is challenging and needs doing.
Kathleen Birtwistle - HR Manager.
I started work for SeniorLink Eldercare in August 2007 on a temporary contract and it didn’t take me long to hope that I would be kept on because I was very impressed with all the staff I came into contact with.
Their commitment to the Company and the enthusiasm for the service that we provide is contagious and I am pleased to say that I have been given the opportunity to stay.
I hope that I will be able to play a part in ensuring that our service continues to provide security and peace of mind for the vulnerable people in our care.
I enjoy interacting with customers- we get some wonderful characters. I also enjoy dealing with the engineers- we are like a family here.
We care about each other so it rubs off onto our clients.
Phillip Norris - Eldercare Team Leader. I have been with the company since 2004. During my time here I have seen many changes, watching the company go from strength to strength. I enjoy my work as a Team Leader, taking responsibility for the shift and the colleagues that I work with.
As a team we work well together helping one another. The calls that we take are varied- from false alarms where the cat has pulled the cord to the other extreme of calling the emergency services. We work very closely with scheme managers whilst they are off site, looking after the residents in their care. We also provide a 24-hour response service to individual clients that have lifelines in their own homes.
Each of the operators has a genuine concern for those who have pressed their button, responding accordingly, courteously and professionally. We treat each client on our system as though they are our own relative and therefore want to provide a first class professional service so that people can feel safe in their own home or in a scheme.
We also work alongside other professionals. Sometimes we are the first point of contact that leads us to speak to other groups, individuals or organisations. By working with multi- agencies we provide the best possible care 24/7 for all of our clients.
We have become a voice to the vulnerable people in our care that don’t necessarily have the social structures around them or a support network that they are fully engaged in. It’s nice to know that you have helped someone through the moral maze of red tape and bureaucracy, helping them to access services which they are unaware that they have been entitled to.
So thank you to all our clients that make it possible for us to provide a 24/7 professional caring service that reaches the vulnerable, physically and mentally challenged, young and old that are in our care.
Donna Cox - Supervisor
I have been working for SeniorlinkEldercare for 8 years now with a short break 5 years ago.
I started my career with Eldercare as a mobile warden in August 2000 and after 6 months was promoted to part time supervisor. After a short break I couldn't keep myself away and came back in 2004 as a full time supervisor.
My role involves overseeing the mobile wardens and all that entails. I find my role not only challenging but extremely rewarding knowing what we do is helping people stay in their homes for longer. I feel very passionate about my work here and hope to expand and grow further with them as we move forward with changes and improvements within the company. I have made lifelong friends here both at the control centre and out and about on the sheltered schemes we cover and that in itself motivates me to come to work each day!!!
